There is no host for Oscar Awards 2019 nominations event, but it will be led by Kumail Nanjiani of “The Big Short” and Tracee Ellis Ross from ABC’s “Black-ish.” The duo will start announcing the 91st Academy Awards nominees live at 5:20 am PT (or 8:20 am ET) on Tuesday, 22nd January 2019.
The Oscars have 24 categories for which a two-part nomination/presentation process will be conducted. It will be conducted by a global live stream on Oscars.com, Oscars.org, the Academy’s social account/profiles on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, a satellite feed will also be there, and there will also be some local broadcasters.
In the first half, the Oscars nominations 2019 will be for nine categories only. The order of presentations is not known yet, but it will comprise of supporting actor, supporting actress, score, animated short film, live-action short film, costume design, film editing, sound editing, and sound mixing.
The second half of the Oscar Awards nominations 2019 will begin at 5:30 am PT which will cover the rest of the 15 categories. The order of presentation will be known when it stars. However, it will contain the best picture, lead actor, lead actress, animated feature film, cinematography, directing, documentary feature, documentary short subject, foreign language film, makeup and hairstyling, visual effects, adapted screenplay, original song, and production design.
There are expectations from Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born,” Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Favorite,” and Adam McKay’s “Vice” to lead in the big categories. Let’s see how it unfolds.
